silver mine of oberzeiring

Until the late Middle Ages, Oberzeiring was very famous for its silver mines. Today the silver resource is exhausted but the mine is still open for visitors. Its healing qualities for bronchial ailments has already been internationally recognized.

Visitors can explore the museum that opened in 1958 and learn about the tools that were used in the mines by the miners, about the mineral specimens that were found there and relics of the mint that produced coins in Oberzeiring between 1284 and 1365.
